At the beginning of July, Red Deporte organised its annual Summer Sports Camp for children from the surrounding neighbourhoods. Over the course of the two-week camp, participants had the opportunity to try a variety of sports and take part in a wide range of fun and engaging activities. We were delighted to welcome around 30 enthusiastic children to this year’s programme and are proud to see the camp continue to grow as a key summer initiative for the local community.
Alongside football tournaments and volleyball training sessions—which proved to be among the children’s favourite activities—the weekly visits to the local public swimming pool were undoubtedly one of the highlights of the camp. With high temperatures throughout the two weeks, the children thoroughly enjoyed the chance to cool off and spend the day swimming. We also collaborated with local artists, yoga instructors and the Barrio del Pilar Rugby Club, who organised engaging sessions for the children. We are proud to work with such dedicated local partners to provide all participants with a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment.
As part of our broader mission, we are strongly committed to promoting gender equality and raising environmental awareness through sport and education. Throughout the camp, we organised interactive workshops and games on these topics, encouraging children to reflect, ask questions and share their own ideas. Through role-playing activities and group discussions, they explored how boys and girls can participate on equal terms both on and off the field, and why respect and fair play are essential in every situation. We also carried out activities focused on protecting the environment, highlighting how small everyday actions can make a positive difference for the planet. The children actively engaged in these sessions, responded thoughtfully to the discussions and demonstrated a strong understanding of the importance of equality, responsibility and teamwork.
The camp concluded with a tournament on the final day, followed by an awards ceremony attended by the children’s families, where every participant received a medal and a personalised T-shirt in recognition of their involvement. The children left the camp full of excitement, and we look forward to welcoming them back next year. We were also delighted to collaborate with local clubs and community members throughout the programme. We are deeply grateful for the strong and diverse community of Barrio del Pilar and look forward to continuing to build and strengthen these valuable partnerships in the years ahead.
