Stay in Tanzania – Fostering Change Through Sports and Agriculture

We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Red Deporte and Fundación Agrónomos Sin Fronteras, an exciting collaboration that brings together the transformative power of sport and sustainable agriculture to support communities in building a stronger, healthier and more resilient future.

At first glance, sport and agriculture may seem like very different fields. However, both have a remarkable ability to empower individuals, strengthen social connections and create opportunities that extend far beyond the playing field or the farm. Through this partnership, we aim to develop initiatives that place people at the heart of sustainable development, recognising that lasting change happens when communities have the tools, knowledge and confidence to shape their own future.

For more than twenty years, Agrónomos Sin Fronteras has worked alongside rural communities in southern Tanzania, supporting thousands of smallholder farmers through programmes designed to improve food security, strengthen livelihoods and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Their work includes the Farmer Field School methodology, school gardens that encourage nutrition and environmental education, women-led agricultural initiatives that expand economic opportunities, and technical training programmes that help farming families adapt to changing environmental and economic conditions.

To mark the beginning of this partnership, Ioanna Sidiropoulou from Red Deporte will travel to Iringa, Tanzania, where she will spend time with local communities and gain first-hand insight into Agrónomos Sin Fronteras’ programmes and their impact. The visit will also provide an opportunity to explore how sport can complement these initiatives by promoting confidence, teamwork, inclusion, leadership and wellbeing among children, young people and adults.

Together with community members and local partners, we look forward to co-creating initiatives that respond to local priorities and aspirations, ensuring that future actions are rooted in community knowledge, ownership and leadership. We are excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities this partnership will create for communities in Tanzania and beyond.
