Europa League and Red Deporte, Escorts of Champions
Red Deporte took part in the event organized by the Catholic community of Spain on March 9–10, 2023, aimed at discussing and deepening the connections between faith and sport. These sessions featured personalities from the fields of media, competition, education, and social integration.
The discussions focused on the importance of faith—whether in God, in others, or in oneself—as a driving force, if not an essential one, in overcoming challenges and achieving ambitious goals. The role of faith in sport was addressed, extending from professional and elite sports to countless pitches located in the world’s most marginalized neighborhoods.
We heard testimonies from footballers of the stature of Mista (former player for Real Madrid and Valencia CF), Olympic medalist José Manuel Abascal, the president of La Liga, Javier Tebas, and representatives from various clubs. Red Deporte shared its experience of 24 years of work in social intervention programs through sport, its collaboration with numerous missions, and how faith is a fundamental element in the lives of a significant proportion of participants in our programs.
