What is the BARRIO DEL PILAR PROGRAM, MADRID?

School reinforcement, youth employability and sports

Red Deporte has moved its headquarters from January 2023, to Barrio del Pilar. The district where we are located is one of the most densely populated areas in Spain and Europe. The population suffers from one of the highest school failure and youth unemployment rates in Spain. It is also a neighborhood with a strong intercultural component.

The program is developed in our headquarters and nearby sports facilities. The activities that are carried out are:

• Extracurricular reinforcement: It combines study with sports practice, in a formula called “study and sports afternoons”.
• Employability: The objective is to promote the labor integration of young people in vulnerable situations (the so-called “NINIs”). Through workshops and sports sessions, favor the development of interpersonal skills and job search processes.
• Prevention and addictions: Workshops to raise awareness and reduce the risk of substance consumption, alcohol, or addiction to the use of screens and mobile devices.
• Gender equality: Encouraging the participation of girls in sports activities, both as players and coaches. Cooking workshops to create a team, reflect and raise awareness about equality.
