BACK IN SOUTH AFRICA WITH A NEW PROJECT

Fortune has linked Red Deporte’s cooperation in South Africa with the successes of the Spanish national football team. In 2010, we launched a sports program in Johannesburg to prevent violence in the surrounding neighbourhoods and marginalized homes of the South African capital. We also built a multi-purpose hall to strengthen the community through training and educational activities. While Andres Iniesta scored “the goal of our lives” (those of the Spanish people, obviously), Red Deporte scored a spectacular goal against poverty and violence just a few kilometres from where Spain was celebrating its World Cup victory.

In 2026, after Spain won the World Cup again, this time in the United States, we returned to Johannesburg with a new sports and education program, precisely in the area surrounding the centre we had built years before. With all the lessons learned, we will improve the integration of children and young people, together with our local partner, the Salesians of Don Bosco. We will also clean up the environment, which has been severely degraded by plastic and garbage dumping around the centre, through environmental action days and educational workshops with the community. We will keep you updated!
