SOCCER FOR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN CAMEROON

Environmental health and climate change program

What is the FOOTBALL FOR HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT IN CAMEROON project?

The Sport Network program is located in the Eastern Region, following the refugee crisis from the Central African Republic, which began in 2011. In addition to the health and education program, we have incorporated the environmental sphere since 2019.

Community schools are our usual working environment on issues such as climate change, waste treatment, recycling, or environmental health in homes, schools and community.

Project results:

  • 2,600 girls, boys and young people benefit from educational activities on health and environmental action, through sports and educational workshops.
  • 44 instructors trained in the use of sports to promote environmental health and the fight against climate change.
  • The “Soccer for the Environment and Health” manual was developed and disseminated.
  • Improved environmental conditions in six community schools in Cameroon.
