Driving access to sports and health in Zambia

In 2024, Red Deporte took a crucial step in its mission to promote sports as a tool for development in Africa by beginning the construction of a sports center in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. This center, scheduled to open in 2025, will be a space of opportunity for young people, women, and vulnerable communities, providing them with access to sports activities and educational programs on health and well-being.

The Lusaka project aims not only to improve sports infrastructure but also to create a positive impact on the region’s public health.

This center will offer:

  • Sports activities for the community.

  • Educational workshops on healthy living.

  • Promotion of gender equality and teamwork.

The support of various organizations has been key to this initiative, including:

  • UEFA Foundation

  • White & Case

  • Procura Salesiana de Madrid

  • Donosti Cup

  • International companies and donors

Funds raised at events like the “World Cup 2024” in Madrid have also been essential in financing the construction and covering operational costs, ensuring the center’s sustainable operation.

Beyond its sporting significance, this center will serve as a driver of social integration, providing disadvantaged communities with equal opportunities to improve their quality of life.

Red Deporte continues working to make the Lusaka center a benchmark for social development through sports in the region.

With gratitude and warmth,

The Red Deporte y Cooperación Team
