‘Come Together’ healthy sport for all
The goal of the ‘Come Together’ project is to promote the practice of healthy, regular, and risk-free physical activity. It focuses primarily on running and features the slogan ‘run slowly, walk fast’, which systematically encourages the incorporation of healthy exercise into our daily lives, fostering an active lifestyle. Among other elements, it raises awareness and encourages people of all ages to engage in at least ten minutes of daily exercise, delivered as ‘health pills’. This type of activity is especially recommended for at-risk groups such as older adults, children, or people with cardiovascular risk. We have developed a smartphone app that helps determine the most suitable type of exercise based on heart rate. This initiative, supported by the European Union, is being implemented in schools and various centers.
Red Deporte successfully organized a race under the ‘run slowly, walk fast’ format at El Valle School in Sanchinarro, Madrid. Four hundred primary and secondary students participated in the race. Health education talks and the promotion of healthy habits were delivered in classrooms. Educational materials were distributed to students. The teaching staff, alongside Red Deporte personnel, played a key role in the dissemination and organization of this initiative.
‘Come Together’ is supported by the European Commission and led by the Italian organization UISP, with Red Deporte as a member of the consortium promoting health through sport.
