On 5 September, Red Deporte y Cooperación travelled to Bari, Italy, to take part in the fourth workshop on sports injuries, organised as part of the European SAFE4EU programme. This session provided an opportunity to further develop our knowledge and practical tools for improving safety and preventing injuries in sporting settings.
The SAFE4EU project brings together Red Deporte y Cooperación, Margherita Sport e Vita (MSV), based in Bari, and Universitatea Româno-Americană, in Bucharest, Romania. The initiative aims to help create safer sporting environments through training in first aid, injury prevention and injury response for coaches, teachers, activity leaders and other sports professionals.
Throughout the project, the workshops enable participants to gain not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical tools and the confidence to recognise and respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies that may occur during sporting activities.
During our visit to Bari, we took part in theoretical and practical training led by osteopath Angelo Savino, focusing on osteopathy and Kinesio Taping, as part of the Integrated Strategy for Sports Injury Prevention.
The session helped us better understand how certain injuries can occur during sporting activities and introduced techniques that can contribute to both prevention and appropriate management. The combination of theoretical explanations and practical exercises made the training particularly useful, allowing us to become familiar with techniques and tools that we can apply in our own sporting activities.
For Red Deporte, these exchanges are particularly valuable because they allow us to learn from the experience of other European organisations, share knowledge and continually improve our own practices. We return to Madrid with new knowledge and practical skills that we hope to incorporate into our activities and share with our teams and partners.
We would especially like to thank Margherita Sport e Vita and all the SAFE4EU project partners for the excellent training, exchange of knowledge and shared experiences during our time in Bari.
⚽️ And it does not end here! In October, we will have the opportunity to welcome our partners to Madrid to continue this collaboration and keep working together towards safer, more inclusive sporting environments that are better prepared to prevent and respond to injuries.
